Romantic Date at Home

A romantic date does not always have to mean going out somewhere. Sometimes, it is nice to just have a romantic night at home together. Not only can a couple relax in a familiar setting; they don’t have to worry about how to get home after a few drinks. There are several ways to make staying at home together into a romantic date.

First, you need to consider the small things, which transform a home into a very romantic setting. Creating a romantic atmosphere involves getting a few choice items such as flowers, scented candles, glass beads or stones, chocolates, music, good food and wine. When these things are all in place, romance will fill the air.

It is always a good idea to start by cleaning the house or apartment somewhat, as nobody likes a mess. Next, take the flowers and place them in the center of the table, along with some nice dinner candles. If you don’t have candleholders, use empty wine bottles. When the wax melts and runs down the bottle it looks very artistic and romantic. If you were able to get extra flowers, place them in vases in various places throughout the house. If you don’t have vases, you can use empty wine bottles again or empty jars without labels on them. To make the flowers more creative looking, you can add food coloring to the water or place some glass beads or stones in the bottom of each jar or vase.

Set your table for two, complete with wineglasses, napkins. Make the table look very romantic and inviting. Select an assortment of music for the evening. If you have a CD player that loads 5-6 CDs, load the music in advance and select shuffle mode. This way the music is looked after for the evening and you will not have to keep getting up to change the music. Try to keep the volume of the music at a level that will be heard and yet not interfere with your conversation.

If you are having appetizers, try to prepare them in advance so that you can enjoy the evening more. If the appetizers are ready to put in the oven or onto the grill, the evening commences much smoother. It is nice to have a drink together while enjoying the appetizers and talking with soft music playing. Also, it is good to have a scented pillar candle or two to place on the coffee table and in the bathroom as it just adds to the atmosphere.

When the time comes to prepare the main course, you may either have all the ingredients to make something together from scratch or you may decide to have some Chinese take out brought in. Finally in regard to dessert, you may want to either have a homemade dessert made the night before or have bought something nice from a local bakery like a cheesecake for instance. Women generally love desserts, so try to remember to have a good dessert handy for sure! Have fun with the whip cream when putting the dessert on the plates. Swirls of chocolate syrup over the dessert with whip cream can be the best!

After dinner, perhaps the two of you can go to the living room and enjoy an after dinner drink or some tea or coffee with a few chocolates. From here the evening could progress in various directions. You could either watch a rental movie together or maybe enjoy romance in the bedroom. If it looks like you are both going to be in the bedroom… it would be romantic to have some flower petals leading to the night of romance.
