Aphrodisiacs - Seductive Scents

Seductive ScentsFragrances play a very powerful role in enhancing romance and sensuality. It has been proven that 19-30% of ad space in magazines is dedicated to marketing fragrances. In fact, 50% of the cost of a fragrance covers the expense of the packaging and delivery alone. A lot of money is spent in positioning fragrances in the market as something that can bring love and passion into a person’s life.

Seductive ScentsOut of the five human senses, smell can be the most intriguing, as it affects mood both on conscious and subconscious levels. For instance, a scent can bring back memories of a person or a situation in a matter of seconds. The scent of the perfume or cologne of a romantic partner can be the sexiest scent in the world to the person smelling it. In fact, it was found that 67% of women have continued to wear the same perfume that they wore on the day they got married. Strong associations with scents can last a lifetime. Certain scents will always remind a person of specific things.

Various scents can provoke different moods. For instance citrus fragrances are energizing, while lavender is a more relaxing scent. Citrus scents along with minty and pine sort of fragrances are clean and uplifting. Some of the most romantic fragrances include jasmine, gardenia, sandalwood and rose. During the various holiday seasons, pumpkin spice, cinnamon, apple, berry, pine, cucumber, fresh cut grass and lemonade scents enhance the mood considerably.

The most seductive is an oriental blend (floriential) fragrance. Certain exotic flowers such as Bulgarian rose, jasmine, and various musk scents, which have woody and exotic essences, are very luring. The base notes are intensified in these fragrances allowing the scent to stay on the skin longer. Some popular base notes in fragrances are amber, vanilla, patchouli, musk and sandalwood. Jasmine has a woody romantic scent that most men and women like. Lavender, vanilla and baby powder, are the three most calming scents. Most men and women are really attracted to the scent of vanilla. Ylang ylang is considered to be an aphrodisiac, as it is mood enhancing and soothing. An essential oil called heroli is made from orange blossom, and is one of the oldest aphrodisiacs in the world used for arousal and uplifting one’s mood. This oil has been used since Egyptian times.

In conclusion, scents are powerfully seductive when used appropriately and with love. Set the mood for romance with warm glowing candles of various seductive scents. Explore the realm of fragrance oils, body lotions, body butters and body sprays. Find the scents that communicate passion and romance to you and your partner and enjoy them in all mediums. This is a great posting; you make some excellent points both about the general power of scent and the way particular scents can affect mood and especially romance. I think the most important thing you say, though, is your ending comment about experimentation. No scent is ever fool-proof for everyone, nor is everyone attracted by the same smell. I really don’t like sandalwood, for instance, though it is typically associated with sexual attraction. One thing you don’t mention here is the importance of our own natural scents. For one thing, the smells that come from our body apparently do attract or repel others – attraction really is in many ways about chemistry. But additionally, these can make a tremendous difference in how purchased scents make us smell, since they are interacting with our already existing smells. In short, trying several different perfumes is the real key.
