When setting the mood for a romantic evening at home, candlelight is one of the most magical ingredients. There is nothing like the warm glow of a candle, flickering with the spirit of passion. Let’s look at a few creative ideas on how candles can be used in creating a night of romance!
Candles come in all shapes, sizes, colors and scents. If someone is has allergies, you will want to stay away from the scented candles. On the other hand, if you can select scented candles, the most popular candle is vanilla it seems. Almost everyone likes the delicate, yet spicy scent of vanilla. The light creamy color of a vanilla candle lets the flame glow through the candle nicely. Not to mention the fact that the scent of vanilla is an aphrodisiac!
After selecting the color or scent of the candles that you will be burning, you will need to decide what shapes of candles you want. If you were planning to set the dining room table and include candles, it would be best to choose some tall tapered dinner candles that are not scented, as the scent near the meal may interfere with the appreciation of the food. If you want scented candles, it is best to choose tea lights, votive candles or pillar candles of sorts for the coffee table or bedroom. Make sure that whatever candles you select, that you have good holders for them. Sometimes an assortment of pillar candles look nicest on a glass plate type of a holder. If you choose this type of look, it is best to get 3 scented pillar candles in three sizes from largest to smallest. This assortment of candle sizes creates a nice look.
To complement the candles, you can be creative and place some shells, sand or glass beads on the plate around the candles. This sort of arrangement looks very nice and can reflect light! It is these sorts of small details that make a big impression. Also, you may want to include some small stones on the table where the candles are, as it creates a peaceful, natural look and sets a romantic mood for the room.
Candles are the glowing lights for the most romantic evenings. There is something very primitive and exciting about a small flickering flame of fire, glowing in a candle above some hot melted, scented wax. Candlelight is the light of passion. Just remember to blow out these glowing lights, as you embrace the passion of the night. There is something about the scent of a freshly blown out candle, which enhances love even further! The contrast from candlelight to darkness can be very sexy!
